Proof of Concept Project – Hemp Carbon Removal
Compliance Report, Sustainability and Vision
This demonstration project at Schiphol Airport shows how hemp can be grown sustainably on unused land around the runway to help decarbonise aviation. Using Tao Climate’s MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification) technology, we track exactly how much carbon is removed from the atmosphere as the hemp grows. The harvested hemp then becomes a valuable resource – it can be used to build sustainable infrastructure like terminal buildings, and also processed into feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This project proves that airports can turn underused space into powerful climate solutions, with clear, science-based data to back it up.
